What To Know About Westborough Town Meeting 2023 Saturday
Stocking Sandra Pond with fish, a new town website, a July 4 block party, the town budget, and more will be up for a vote.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough's annual spring Town Meeting will be held Saturday at the high school, with meeting members set to vote on everything from starting the Boston-Worcester Airline Trail to basics like the town budget.
The meeting begins at 9 a.m. at Westborough High School and will likely last all day. The town will provide free transportation via the Council on Aging (call (508) 366-3000), babysitting by high school students — and the school cafeteria will be open for members to buy dinner.
What's on this spring's warrant? Here's a preview of some of the more salient items.

Library renovations — Town Meeting shot down a $36 million library expansion at a special meeting in December. An article up for a vote on Saturday would put about $360,000 toward studying and designing library renovations.
New town website — Town Meeting will decide whether to spend $50,000 to create a new town website. It's unclear when the last time the town website got a refresh, but the logo at the top dates to the town's 300th birthday in 2017.

Boston-Worcester Airline Trail — Town Meeting will vote on spending $110,000 from the free cash fund to design the BWALT. The other 80 percent of the cost would come from a state grant the town is pursuing.
Downtown flashing crosswalk — The members will consider spending $14,000 to put a flashing crosswalk near the downtown rotary. There's a crosswalk there now, but a driver hit a 12-year-old boy in the busy intersection earlier this year.
Community Preservation Committee — After voters approved adopting the Community Preservation Act last year, Town Meeting now has to form the committee that will approve projects with the new pot of money.
