WHS' Smith Withdraws Hopkinton Candidacy

Another school district has offered him a job.

Westborough High School Principal John Smith has withdrawn his candidacy for Hopkinton High School principal because "he has been offered a position in another district," Hopkinton school officials said Tuesday in a press release.

Hopkinton school officials last week said Smith and Holliston High School Principal Michael Cournoyer were the finalists chosen by the Hopkinton High School Principal Screening Committee.

The committee had invited both Smith and Cournoyer to a public forum this month to meet community members. Now, Cournoyer will meet with the public at 7 tonight in the Hopkinton High School auditorium.
