The officer on the call noted front end damage and due to collision with the wall and a nearby mailbox, and also noticed muddy handprints on the front hood of the vehicle.

However, the police report indicated that the skid marks were made travelling in the opposite direction that the Jeep had been heading.
Upon further investigation of the vehicle, an empty bottle of cognac was found in the trunk of the vehicle along with an unopened can of beer and a box containing marijuana related paraphernalia.
The vehicle was towed and the driver was discovered and was summoned to the police station.
Approximately 15 minutes later, the driver arrived and said he had left a home on Steeple Chase Road at approximately 1:45 a.m., driving approximately 45 miles per hours when his vehicle slipped due to wet conditions on the road, smashing into the wall.
At this point, he attempted to move the vehicle, only to hit the mailbox.
From there, he ran from the vehicle and called his family to pick him up, hoping AAA would remove the vehicle without police getting involved.
When asked why he didn’t immediately report the accident, he said that he had two prior moving violations and believed the accident would negatively impact his reputation as a driver.
The officer interviewing the man noted the smell of alcohol on his breath and charged the man in relation to the incident.
Damages were estimated at approximately $2500 for the wall and $100 for the mailbox.
