ICYMI: Selection Committee Recommends Firm for Center Fire Station Project

WESTFORD, MA - The Permanent Town Building Committee has selected Donham & Sweeney Architects to take on the Center Fire Station project on Boston Road.
After receiving interest from eight firms, the selection committee narrowed it down to three candidates: Donham & Sweeney, The Galante Architecture Studio and Kaestle Boos Architects.

The committee chose Donham & Sweeney because it has completed several similar Public Safety projects including the North Andover Fire Station, according to a memorandum by Tom Mahanna, chair of the PTBC. They are also completing similar facilities in Uxbridge and Leicester.
The recommendation for the designer services contract is subject to successful negotiation of contract terms.

The town previously had a contract with Dore & Whittier but it was terminated on March 22 due to increased costs and a longer project timeline,Wicked Local reported.
The firm’s design was approximately $4 million over the $12.74 million budget appointed by voters at a 2015 Town Meeting, according to Wicked Local.
