Man Drowns at Merrill's Quarry

An unnamed 26-year-old man was pronounced dead on Saturday afternoon after a swimming accident at Merrill’s Quarry in northern Westford.

The Middlesex County District Attorney spokeswoman Stephanie Guyotte told Patch that Westford Police and EMS units were dispatched to the area after a report that the man was drowning, and that several others swimming there attempted to revive him with no success.

Guyotte confirmed that the man was pronounced dead at Lowell General Hospital soon afterward, but no time of death was available.
