Poor, Disabled Man Advised Not to Smoke Discarded Cigarettes

April 28, 2:36 a.m. - While on patrol, an officer spotted a man with a black hooded sweatshirt standing in front of a convenience store.

The man identified himself as disabled and on a fixed income, noting he was at the convenience store to take discarded cigarettes from a cigarette extinguisher in front of the store and light those that were only half used, saying he could not afford cigarettes.

Another officer arrived on scene and checked nearby buildings, all of which were secure.

The man also had no prior criminal record.

Police discouraged the man from his actions and advised that the business owners could take action against the man.

He understood, and was given a ride home.

May 1, 9:59 a.m. - An anonymous resident called Westford Police to report a suspicious vehicle with a "creepy" man on Flagg Road.

Upon further investigation, the man was an employee of United Van Lines and was waiting to coordinate two tractor trailer trucks that would move furniture from a home nearby.

May 1, 3:49 p.m. - A red Ford Taurus with New Hampshire plates was seen as driving erratically by an officer in the area, forcing the driver to pull over into the parking lot of Stony Brook Acres.

The driver, an elderly woman, immediately requested directions to Nashua, saying she left Dunstable and took a wrong turn.

Directions were provided and the officer followed the woman to Route 3.

 

May 26, 12:02 a.m. - Daniel Soucy, 46, of 712 Dunstable Rd. in Groton was arrested on charges of alleged operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor (4th Offense)

May 28, 11:30 p.m. - Brian Barbarosa, 38, of 11 Allview Ave. in Brewster, NY was arrested as an alleged fugitive from justice.
