Should Westford Organize Its Own Fourth of July Celebrations?

Patch was over in Chelmsford on Thursday covering the Fourth of July Parade there, and we saw plenty of folks from Westford, such as retired Westford Academy teacher and basketball coach Ed Scollan, seen here (way in the back) with the Billy Brigade.

Today, as the Fourth recedes into memory, we want to ask whether Westford should have its own Fourth of July festivities. 

With other nearby celebrations like the one in Chelmsford, is it necessary? And would doing so distract from the Apple Blossom Parade and Festival?

Or, is it just an American necessity for a town to celebrate our nation's independence?
