Student Allegedly Brags About Chance to Use Gun, Crossbow

Feb. 15, 10:10 a.m. - Police intervened with a teacher said that a student was "bragging" about being able to use a gun and crossbow the following week while his parents were away.

After an investigation of the student's house, the officer talked with the student and school officials about the claims, which he said he did not recall.

The officer asked the student about the crossbow, which the student said was given as a Christmas present, but he was not authorized to use without direct parental supervision while either in the woods or at a shooting range.

At the end of the discussion, the officer told the student that any potential "bragging" inside school was inappropriate, citing the concerns from earlier. The student apologized for causing any concern.

The officer contacted the student's parents, who understood the gravity of the situation according to the report and ensured the officer that the issue would be handled appropriately.

March 2, 6:51 a.m. - An unsecured vehicle was spotted at Belle's Bistro, which was not open at the time.

The vehicle ultimately turned out to be owned by an employee of the restaurant.

March 3, 1:25 p.m. - One officer was dispatched to West Street after a bright blue vehicle reportedly ran another vehicle off the road nearby on Route 40.

Upon catching up with the vehicle, the officer was told by the driver that he was picking up his sister and was caught behind a slow moving vehicle.

He kept a distance of approximately 30 feet and was travelling near the speed limit according to the report, but eventually the driver decided to honk his horn, causing the car in front of him to pull over, letting him pass.

The officer asked the driver to drive safely and provide more space to vehicles in the future.

Police could not contact the other driver.
