Last week the Town of Westford was approved by the Massachusetts Economic Assistance Coordinating Council to join the 495 Regional Technology Economic Target Area (ETA), joining the towns Boxborough and Littleton.
According to a release from Westford Town Manager Jodi Ross, the designation will help encourage businesses to locate in Westford as well as assisting Westford businesses with expansion: leading to new jobs and new construction in town.
She also stated that the designation will help with tax incentives at the state level and federal grants for commercially zoned districts as well as Brownfield grants for possible usage on former industrial sites.
As of 2012, Massachusetts has 17 Regional Economic Target Areas as well as 38 municipal and county Economic Target Areas and three Special Economic Target Areas (see pictured map)
