Westford Community Access Television, better known as Westford CAT, took the night off from its duties as the town’s television station to reflect on the past year and look forward during their annual meeting on Thursday night.
The event was highlighted by a ceremony honoring former State Representative and frequent Westford CAT show host Geoff Hall for his work at the station and his show Around Town as well as other volunteers who were honored for their work over the past year.
Westford CAT President Ira Keltz and General Manager Lauren Horton highlighted all of the achievements the station achieved over the past year from new high definition cameras to new studio lighting equipment, as well as initiatives for the upcoming year that include a new website.

“We’ve accomplished so much during the past year,” said Keltz. “Now we want to focus on outreach, getting more residents to come in and participate and make shows, use what we have and spread their word to the community.”
The meeting also marked a farewell to Video Systems Engineer Mark Rocheleau, who will be teaching at Groton-Dunstable High School starting next month.

While the new assignment is not his first in teaching, as Westford CAT was not his first public access station when he signed on here about a year ago, but the opportunity in Groton proved too much to ignore when it presented itself.
“Going into it originally, I didn’t have a lot of knowledge about the school system, but I was immediately impressed with the faculty and the kids,” said Rocheleau. “Throughout the interviewing process, they were an amazing group of people. I walked out of my first interview with them saying ‘I want to work there’.”
Westford CAT’s studios, equipment and other services are free to use for local groups and Westford cable subscribers as well as Westford residents without cable subscriptions for a $25 fee and non-residents for a $35 fee.
