Thomas Murray, Active Weston Resident, Dies At 94
Murray served in WWII, worked in advertising and coached Weston Little League, among many other things.

Thomas J. Murray, 94 of Weston, died peacefully at home on November 17, 2018. He was the cherished father of Joshua Murray and his wife Nancy Cinnamon Murray, Mariliz Licata and Kate Krumwiede and her husband Adam, grandfather of Ryane McManus, Erin Murray, Kali Joseph, Thomas Krumwiede and Taylor Krumwiede and great grandfather of Thomas McManus. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Murray, nee Cull, in May 2008, after 64 years of marriage and his sister, Mary Cunningham in September 2017.
Born March 12, 1924, he grew up in Bridgeport and graduated from Central High School. He went on to graduate from Dartmouth College in 1944. His college years were interrupted by the Second World War, where he served in the Army Air Corps as a 1st Lieutenant Bombardier in the 8th AF 92 Airborne Bomb Group flying the B-17 Flying Fortress. He flew 45 missions over Europe, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 3 oak clusters and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal.
After his return from the service, he began a distinguished career as a professor at Dartmouth, and later moved back to CT to pursue a career in advertising with Warwick & Legler and the Benton & Bowles Agencies in New York City. In 1990, he established his own business, TJM & Associates and engaged in the public record and corporate service industry for over 25 years. He has served as Chairman of the United Way in Weston, President of Weston Little League, and remained an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Church as a lector and on the treasury committee. Tom was a lifelong Yankees fan and avid tennis player.

Friends are invited to greet his family on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 4–7 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 35 Norfield Rd. in Weston. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery in Fairfield.
