U.S. Ambassador from Weston Will Speak at Tufts Next Week

Alan D. Solomont will speak during a lecture presented by the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at Tufts University

Tufts University has announced that Alan D. Solomont will be the featured speaker at the upcoming Alan D. Solomont Lecture presented by the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service at Tufts University.

Solomont, who is from Weston, currently serves as the U.S. Ambassador to Spain and Andorra, according to Tufts. The Alan D. Solomont Lecture Series was endowed by the Tisch College Board of Advisors and friends and colleagues of Solomont "in recognition of his exemplary leadership as an active citizen."

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi delivered the inaugural lecture in 2011.

According to an announcement about the lecture, Solomont "will discuss his diplomatic service representing the nation overseas as well as his life as an activist. As he nears the end of his tour as Ambassador, Tisch College has invited him to speak about his service and experience."

The lecture is free and open to the public. It will take place April 22 at 5 p.m. in ASEAN Auditorium at the Cabot Intercultural Center on Tufts' Medford/Somerville campus. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
