'We Are In Better Shape This Year': DPW Director On Potholes
The DPW director tells Patch that Weston is still in "snow and ice mode," and talks about the department's plans for the town.

WESTON, MA—Believe it or not, Weston is still in "snow and ice mode," in terms of the Department of Public Works and its operations.
"We have been and will continue to be in cleanup mode from the 3 weeks of Nor’easters that we just experienced, " said Tom Cullen, director of operations for the DPW. "During the storms, in addition to the several power lines that come down during the storms, we experienced more than 125 tree and tree limbs issues (fallen, blocking the roadway, etc.) during the storms while trying to plow over 40 inches of snow. Weston Police, Fire and DPW worked as a team, and in my opinion responded excellently during the events."
Once the public way cleanup is done, the department is jumping right into the street sweeping program and the hydrant flushing program.

But....potholes. Most communities complain of those dirty, destructive Earth caverns this time of the year more than ever.
Cullen said that Weston is in better shape regarding potholes than the town was in the past, including last year.

"The reason I say that is we have a couple of good/aggressive paving seasons the last few years in addition to the paving work that the State has done in Weston over the last couple of years," said Cullen. "Additionally, we were able to do some hot mix pothole patching this past February due to the warmer weather to give us a jump on the pothole season. For sure we will be pothole patching, but as I have said, I believe we have a pretty good jump on the season."
