25-Hour Brush Fire Burns in West Roxbury

The four-alarm blaze took hold in the dry leaves near Roxbury Latin and the West Roxbury Quarry.

West Roxbury, MA — The Boston Fire Department wrapped up work in West Roxbury Sunday evening, after a day-long fight against a stubborn brush fire there.

According to the Boston Fire Department, the four-alarm fire burned between the rear of Roxbury Latin and West Roxbury Quarry. The Boston Fire Department reported via social media it arrived on scene around 5:19 p.m. Saturday.

Around 7:30 p.m., Boston Fire said it packed up their hoses and headed out after hours spent trying to douse the stubbornly smoldering underbrush. State forest fire control wardens assisted, Boston Fire said.
