BREAKING: Cop Shot, One Dead in Boston Shootout

The officer was reportedly shot in the face.

A Boston police officer was shot in the face and two other people were also shot, in a confrontation in Roxbury Friday night, officials said. One of other people shot was killed.

Boston Globe reported that the incident began when police stopped a car on Humboldt Avenue near Crawford Street. The stop led to gunfire that killed one suspect and left another person with minor wounds, Police Commissioner William B. Evans said.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the officer injured tonight, his family and friends and the entire Boston Police Department during this difficult time,” Mayor Walsh said in a press release. “These acts of violence have no place in our neighborhoods. Our community is stronger than ever, and tonight we are thankful for all of those who put their lives on the line every day to protect our city.”
