Casey Arborway to be Demolished

The overpass will close during the weekend of May 16 - 17 before the demolition process begins.

The Casey Arborway in Jamaica Plain will be demolished in May, according to a recent press release.

Preparation began with the closing of the westbound travel lane on Saturday, May 9. All westbound traffic shifted to the temporary surface roadway.

During the weekend of May 16 - 17, the overpass will close in its entirety and all traffic will shift to temporary surface roadways.

Demolition of the overpass will begin on Monday, May 18. Work will not take place on Memorial Day, which is Monday, May 25.

Operations for the week of May 11 will include the following:

  • Paving of temporary lanes and placement of a temporary barrier west of South Street.
  • Construction of temporary parking for the West Roxbury Courthouse within the Arborway Yard will begin.

The week of May 18:

  • On Hyde Park Avenue, construction of temporary roadway for northbound traffic will begin.
  • In the Arborway Yard, parking lot construction will continue.
