Child Struck by Car, Dragged Down Street in West Roxbury
A 10-year-old girl was hit by an elderly driver in the parking lot of Roche Brothers and then dragged down the road.

A 10-year-old girl was left injured after she was struck and dragged by an elderly motorist in Boston’s West Roxbury neighborhood on Saturday evening.
Alex Nicholls was hit by an 87-year-old driver in the parking lot of Roche Brothers at 1800 Centre Street around 6 p.m.
Nicholls, who is fortunate to have survived the incident, was transported to Children’s Hospital with an array of injuries. She suffered superficial injuries, including chipped teeth, road rash and a sprained ankle, after the motorist failed to realize he had hit her.

The driver, who has not been identified, dragged Nicholls down the street. An off-duty firefighter was forced to intervene in order to prevent further harm.
“I would like to thank the Boston Police officers from E-5 that responded to the Roche Brothers parking lot in West Roxbury,” Nicholls’ father said. “My daughter was struck and dragged several feet by an elderly man. I cannot say enough about these officers. They were there, literally, in seconds and were outstanding on a human and professional level. Keeping my daughter’s spirits up and even getting her to smile a few times. It meant the world to me.”

No immediate charges or citations were issued to the driver. Boston police say they’ll continue to investigate.
