The Ed Walsh Foundation is a nonprofit aimed at helping families in the greater Boston area in the memory of Boston Fire Lt. Edward Walsh, a West Roxbury resident who died last March while battling a nine-alarm fire in Back Bay alongside Boston Firefighter Michael Kennedy, also an area native. In July, Boston officials named the playground in Billings Field after the fallen firefighters, dubbing it the “Lt. Edward Walsh and Firefighter Michael Kennedy Tot Lot.”
