Wednesday’s storms dumped a ton of rain on the area and if you think it was more than you saw in a while -- you’re right. Records were set across the state for the most rainfall in a one day period, according to the National Weather Service.

  • Worcester saw 2.39 inches on Wednesday. The previous record was 2.17 inches in 1946.
  • Greenfield received an eye-popping 5.60 inches.
  • Providence, RI had 2.02 inches Wednesday beating the previous record of 0.95 in 1946.

Just how much rain fell in Boston?

According to the National Weather Service, Boston, as of 6:31 p.m. Wednesday, had 2.46 inches of rain on Wednesday, breaking the previous record of 1.26 inches back in 1899.
