While Boston Mayor Thomas Menino hasn't declared whether he'll be seeking re-election - the Temple Street area, where the shootout takes place - is a big John Connolly neighborhood. earlier this month, lives in West Roxbury.  Connolly has hammered the Menino administration on the recent student assignment plan, calling it "a lost opportunity for our children". And the Shamrock Shootout will be packed with families with elementary-aged children.  The Shamrock Shootout begins at 10:30 a.m. at Temple and Sherbrook streets in West Roxbury.
