Participate in Cancer Society Prevention Study at West Roxbury YMCA

Men and women ages 30 to 65, who have never been diagnosed with cancer, are needed for a cancer research study.

 

The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers for a grassroots cancer research project taking place at the West Roxbury YMCA on May 2.

Men and women between the ages of 30 and 65, who have never been personally diagnosed with cancer are needed to join the American Cancer Society Cancer Prevention Study-3.

To pre-register or to learn more, visit cancer.org/cps3ne or call 1-888-604-5888. Walk-ins are welcome at West Roxbury's YMCA on Bellevue Street. The event on May 2 is from 4 to 7:30 p.m.

Enrolling in the study takes less than 30 minutes. Individuals will read and sign an informed consent form, complete a brief survey, have their waist circumference measured, and give a small blood sample. From home, participants complete a comprehensive survey about lifestyle, behavioral, and other factors related to their health. The American Cancer Society will send follow-up surveys to update participant information and newsletters with study updates and results. The initial and follow-up surveys completed at home take less than an hour to complete.
