One father who knows very well about trick-or-treating in Halloween is state Rep. Ed Coppinger. Coppinger grew up in West Roxbury, and lives in the neighborhood with four daughters all younger than 13.

"I'm a firm believer in trick or treating in the neighborhood that you live in. Since West Roxbury is such a family friendly neighborhood, every area in the town is good," said Coppinger.

"Now that I live off of Weld Street, I love having my kids walk around our neighborhood. There are so many kids walking around - and I even notice some getting out of cars, so our area must have a good Halloween reputation," added Coppinger.

Asked about his Halloween days as a young boy in West Roxbury: "I remember going out when I was a kid near my house off of St. Theresa Ave, and there was always a lot of kids walking around. I used to love going to a house on Lagrange Street, I believe the woman's name was Cookie Dowd, and she dressed up like a witch and sat as still as can be. As kids approached the candy bucket, she randomly jumped up at some kids, not each and every one of them. You never knew if she was going to jump, and you always questioned whether she was real or not."
