Police Warn of Scam Calls Seeking Drug Prevention Donations
Here's what area residents need to know about this phone scam.

The Massachusetts State Police are warning residents about a recent phone scam.
Officials say the scam involves telephone callers claiming to be members of the State Police or affiliated with them. The callers are soliciting money for drug prevention and intervention programs. The callers may claim to be part of a narcotics unit.

State Police want residents to know these claims are fraudulent and that they are not conducting any fundraisers and do not conduct phone solicitations for anything.
If you get such a call, you should hang up. In fact, police say, if you receive any call from someone soliciting money for any purpose, claiming to be from any source, do not provide any personal or financial information.
