Protesters Arrested While Demonstrating Against Pipeline Construction

They are being held on charges of trespassing and disturbing the peace.

Police made multiple arrests today at a protest in West Roxbury this afternoon, according to a spokeswoman from Boston PD.

Protesters were demonstrating against the construction of a gas pipeline being built by Spectra Energy. Led by the group Resist the Pipeline, the protesters argue that the pipeline is too dangerous to run through a residential area and that natural gas contributes global warming.

The people arrested are being held on charges of disturbing the peace and trespassing. In pictures posted on Twitter, the protesters can be seen holding signs reading "People Before Profits," going under construction barriers, and sitting with their feet in a hole built for the pipe.
