Boston firefighters responded to the scene around 5:47 p.m. Wednesday. Heavy fire was still showing as of 7:18 p.m., and BFD said that all lines were shut down as of 8 p.m. Wednesday to see where the fire still might be burning.
As a result of the fire, officials recommended that drivers stay away from Brighton Avenue to Linden Street, as well as Harvard Avenue and Cambridge Street to Commonwealth Avenue as gridlock was expected in those areas.
