West Roxbury Main Streets Bids Goodbye to O’Connor; Search for New Exec. Director Begins

Kara O'Connor is leaving WRMS for a position in Boston's Office of Business Development.

 

West Roxbury Main Streets is looking for a new executive director after Kara O'Connor announced she is leaving for a position within the city. 

O’Connor, a South Boston resident and former events coordinator at the West Roxbury YMCA, is leaving to take on the role of Neighborhood Business Manager in the Office of Business Development at the City of Boston’s Department of Neighborhood Development.

The search for a new WRMS executive director has begun immediately, as O'Connor's last day will be April 2. Information about the job search will be posted on West Roxbury Main Street's website

“On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, we want to thank Kara for her three years of service on behalf of the organization,” said West Roxbury Main Streets Board President Matthew Gruber. “Since 2011, 16 new businesses have opened in the West Roxbury business district along Centre and Spring streets. During this time, WRMS has remained a thriving district, with more than 200 businesses and only five vacancies district-wide.”

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Kara coming on board to the Department of Neighborhood Development,” said Sheila Dillon, Director of the Department of Neighborhood Development. “In her new position, Kara will continue the great work she has already done with Boston Main Streets, and we look forward to her leadership on many other initiatives and programs designed to serve and support Boston's small business community.”
