When Does Catholic Memorial's 2014 Fall Sports Season Officially Begin?

Catholic Memorial is gearing up for another school year.
Freshman overnight orientation began Monday and leads into Tuesday this week at the West Roxbury-based school, while orientations continue after Labor Day. The first full day of classes for students is Thursday, Sept. 4, according to the CM 2014-2015 School Calendar.

Catholic Memorial’s sports season officially kicked into gear on Aug. 18 with practices beginning for several fall teams.
The CM varsity football team had its first scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 23 against Foxborough at home and will have another scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 29 at home against Duxbury beginning at 7 p.m.

Candidates for the freshman football team will try out on Wednesday, Aug. 27 and Thursday, Aug. 28 from 4 to 6 p.m., while middle school football candidates will try out on the same days from 5 to 7 p.m. (candidates will need to bring shorts, tee shirts and cleats).
But the first official game of the season is on Friday, Sept. 12 at Hartford, VT High School with kickoff set for 7 p.m.
The Cross Country team, meanwhile, begins practice on Tuesday, Aug. 26 for returning runners, while new upper class candidates will report to CM for tryouts on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 2:30 p.m. The CC team has its first game at home on Tuesday, Sept. 23 against Malden Catholic.
The varsity golf team will take on Winchester High School at home on Wednesday, Sept. 10, and the boys varsity soccer squad will take on Lynnfield at home on Wednesday, Sept. 10.
