Woman Charged After Carrying Loaded Gun in Public
A Boston woman was arraigned on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm on a public way.

A Roslindale woman was arraigned in Dorchester Municipal Court on an array of gun charges, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office said.
Ayanna Smith, 40, was arraigned on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and carrying a loaded firearm on a public way.
Just after 4 a.m. on Saturday morning, Smith was walking down 70 Ames Street with a loaded weapon, witnesses told police. Police say Smith tossed the loaded gun under a nearby car when they arrived at the scene. She was immediately taken into custody.

A judge released Smith on $10,000 cash bail and ordered her to wear a GPS monitoring device. She must also abide by a curfew, according to DA Daniel J. Conley.
Prosecutors say the June Street resident was previously convicted of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery on two other occasions.

Smith is due back in court on October 13.
