Happy Ending as Alice Returns Home, Reunites with Owner

After a that elicited a level of local response rivaling that of at least a B-list celebrity whenever she was sighted, Alice the 3-year-old terrier mix dog was finally reunited with her family early yesterday morning.

"Everyone was so helpful on the lookout," Kathryn Gracia Fazzari, Alice's owner, said. "We got at least one call everyday, and at all times of the day."

Fazzari, who moved to Westwood about three months ago, adopted Alice from the Forever Home New England animal shelter in Medfield just two days before the dog ran away on July 26. Alice had lived on the street prior to being at the shelter, and this probably contributed to her being extremely shy around people.

Alice was caught with a trap in Fazzari's yard that Forever Home came out to set. Fazzari said the shelter was great and had been very supportive and give a lot of advice these past two weeks. Alice, in fact, had been circling the house a number of times because they had put pieces of hot dogs around the yard. But it seemed that every time she got close to begin caught, she would get frightened again and run off.

Finally, it seems, she was hungry enough that she couldn't pass up a hot dog in the yard yesterday morning.

Fazzari said that Alice looks skinny, but overall she seems to be doing well. She's taking her to the vet today as a precaution, but she's glad Alice is back home. In addition, they went on a long walk last night to take down signs throughout the neighborhood that had been posted when she went missing.

Fazzari wants to reiterate how thankful she is to everyone in Westwood for all their help, saying she couldn't thank them enough.
