'Great Pumpkin Giveaway' Coming To Weymouth

Music, food, activities and more will be part of Weymouth's Great Pumpkin Giveaway to get ready for Halloween season and give to nonprofits.

WEYMOUTH, MA — Residents are invited to join in on the Great Pumpkin Giveaway in Weymouth. The 12th annual event will take place Sunday, Oct. 6. Participants are asked to donate to a nonprofit to pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, while enjoying a plethora of fall-themed activities.

The event will feature a New England Aquarium Travel Tidepool, bubble soccer, amusements, Joe's Crazy Critters, Heros for Hire New England, a Roaming Railroad, food trucks, public safety demonstrations, local businesses, nonprofits, a photo booth, music and more. Mayor Robert Hedlund will join in on the fun.

Bubble soccer will be available for those ages 7 years old and older. Sign-ups will take place on site at the event on a first come, first served basis. Children ages 7 to 10 years old will play from noon to 1:15 p.m., those ages 11 to 14 years old will play from 1:25 p.m. to 2:40 p.m., and teens ages 15 to 17 years old will play from 2:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. A guardian must sign a waiver for participants who are below the age of 18, according to even organizers.

The Weymouth Health Department will also offer flu vaccines for those ages 5 years old and older. Those interested are asked to bring their medical insurance cards.

The Great Pumpkin Giveaway is taking place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Weymouth High School, located at 1 Wildcat Way. Free parking will be available on site, with additional parking with free shuttle service available at the Ralph Talbot School. Handicapped parking and other accommodations that are reasonable are available upon request.
