The roundup highlights standout performances from several South Shore schools as winter sports season gets underway, including big scoring nights for players from Middleboro, Holbrook, Quincy, Pembroke, Oliver Ames, Rockland, and Archbishop Williams.
   

• Marshfield town administrator search comes down to 2. What was decided (patriotledger.com) — A finalist for Marshfield’s town administrator job previously worked for Weymouth as a program manager while earning her public administration degree, but Marshfield’s select board ultimately rejected both finalists after a two‑month search. Board members said they want a candidate with stronger Massachusetts municipal experience and will continue relying on interim administrators while they rethink how to attract a better applicant pool.
   

• South Shore teen's holiday spirit lights up nursing home residents (patriotledger.com) — A 96-year-old Weymouth High alum now living in a Scituate nursing home is among residents whose rooms were brightened by handmade mini Christmas trees and wreaths from a Scituate teen. The project, funded by small donations and family help, brought 36 wreaths and 20 trees to Cardigan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, drawing heartfelt thanks from residents and staff.
