(popsci.com) — A rare purple gallinule blown off course ended up at the New England Wildlife Center in Weymouth, where staff carefully rehabilitated the underweight bird instead of rushing to feed it. Their team stabilized its condition, then helped arrange a volunteer-flown return to suitable habitat in the Carolinas, offering guidance on what locals should do if they find distressed wildlife.
