Paws Rule Dog Daycare Partners with Quincy Trainer

Weymouth dog daycare and boarding center, Paws Rule, will begin working with Wicked Good Dog next month.

Paws Rule, 551 Washington St., has a lot to offer, but next month, through a new partnership with Quincy-based Wicked Good Dog, the dog daycare, boarding and grooming facility will provide customers with even more services.

Michelle Carlin, an Animal Behavior College certified trainer and owner of Wicked Good Dog, will begin teaching training classes at Paws Rule the second week of October.

Carlin will begin transitioning out of the Wicked Good Dog location at 5 Copeland St. in Quincy, in favor of the more spacious facility in Weymouth.

“They were seeking a trainer the same time we were seeking a larger space,” Carlin said of the partnership with Paws Rule.

The Quincy native will continue to operate her pet sitting and walking services, which are currently not available at Paws Rule.

Currently, Wicked Good Dog makes 340 visits per week to homes on the South Shore and Metro West for in-home pet sitting or walks.  Carlin’s staff of 10 makes the home visits.

Once her training classes move to Weymouth, Carlin plans transition the day-to-day operation of the business to her Quincy home.

“We’re pretty much a virtual business anyway,” said Carlin, who started Wicked Good Dog training seven years ago and added the pet sitting and walking aspects of the business over the past four years.

Carlin, who holds a Masters in Education, spent 20 years working with staff and families who care for people with behavioral challenges or disabilities. She now applies a positive reinforcement method of training, using a clicker to reward good behavior, not punish undesirable actions.

Wicked Good Dog will bring several levels of training, from the Puppy Kindergarten class for dogs under five months, to more advanced classes, to Paws Rule.

At first, Carlin said she will be teaching twice as many classes, finishing up sessions in Quincy, and getting series started in Weymouth.
