From there, Scout helped in numerous narcotics searches in and around Weymouth, working closely with narcotics detectives over the years, the department said.

"K-9 Scout was able to find not only purpose, but a wonderful life of service and love with the Murphy family and our community," the department said. "'Tis better to have loved and lost, than never loved at all' is a fitting quote for Scout, a little rescue dog….who found a big life."
