Candidate Statement: Julie Broussard, School Committee
This is the candidate statement for Julie Broussard, candidate for the Wilmington School Committee.

Dear Wilmington voters,
Fourteen years ago, my husband and I bought our first home in Wilmington, knowing very little about the town other than it was where we could afford and a close commute to Boston. We quickly made friends, had a baby and Wilmington started to feel like home. Flash-forward to present day…our baby is now a 4th grader at the West Intermediate School. We love Wilmington and all it has to offer our family.
With the encouragement of friends and neighbors, I am submitting my candidacy for Wilmington School Committee. While the current school committee has done a good job, I feel I can add value and continue the progress that has been made. My years of professional experience in the Human Resources field would complement the varied backgrounds of existing committee members and my knowledge of recruiting would be helpful in the process of hiring a new high school principal.

I strongly believe all children of Wilmington deserve a 1st rate education. A quality education requires many things, including a challenging curriculum, creative and engaging teachers, a safe, inclusive environment and most importantly, involved parents. I voted in support of the new high school and am excited to see the work progressing. My hope is that the project will continue with minimal interruptions, on budget, and with no negative effect on current students.
If elected, I offer the Wilmington School Committee a diligent and capable teammate. I have the time to give and dedication to stay focused on what is most important – the children of Wilmington.
