Firetruck Hit On I-93: A Reminder To "Slow Down, Move Over"
Wilmington Fire Department issued a reminder for drivers to slow down and proceed with caution after a firetruck was hit Sunday night.
WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Fire Department has issued a reminder for motorists to drive with caution if they see emergency vehicles pulled over with their lights on after a firetruck was hit while blocking traffic on I-93.
The Wilmington Fire Department did not disclose injuries from the accident and said that the driver who hit the firetruck was taken into custody. Emergency crews were blocking traffic while assisting with an accident on I-93 on Sunday night.
The “Move Over Law,” of 2008 requires drivers to slow down and move to a lane not next to the stopped emergency vehicle. The law was enacted to protect emergency responders on roadways. Unfortunately, struck-by-incidents have claimed the lives of 16 emergency responders in the first three months of 2022.

This is yet another reminder to slow down and proceed with caution around emergency vehicles with their lights on. Tower 1 was hit tonight on 93 while blocking traffic during a motor vehicle crash. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody. #slowdownmoveover pic.twitter.com/k6Dum4BwZz
