Wilmington Special Election: When, Where, How To Vote
Judy O'Connell and Mark Nelson are running for the Board of Selectmen seat vacated by Jomarie O'Mahoney.

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington voters will go to the polls Sept. 2 for a special election to replace Jomarie O'Mahoney.
The election sees Mark Nelson and Judy O'Connell facing off for the seat. O'Mahoney resigned in June due to a move out of town.
Early voting by mail
Applications for mail ballots are due with the town clerk by Friday, Aug. 27 at 5 p.m.

Mail ballots can be returned by mail, directly to the town clerk's office, or using the Town Hall drop box, at the front door of 121 Glen Road.
Mail ballots must be received by the close of polls, 8 p.m., Sept 2.

Absentee voting
Absentee ballots are available at the town clerk's office through Sept. 1 at noon.
"Special legislation effective through December 15, 2021 has expanded eligibility for absentee ballots to include as a reason of physical disability any person taking precautions related to COVID-19 in response to a declared state of emergency or guidance from a medical professional, local or state health official or any civil authority," the town clerk said. "Other allowable eligibility factors for absentee ballots are physical absence from the Town during the polling hours on Election Day and by reason of religious observance."

Ballots must be received by the close of polls at 8 p.m., Sept 2.
Anyone planning to vote who is instructed to self-quarantine in their home beginning after noon on Aug. 26 should call the town clerk's office at 978-658-2030.
In-person voting
Polls will be open Thursday, Sept. 2 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The town's traditional voting locations will be used:
- Precincts 1 & 2 – Boutwell School, 17 Boutwell Street
- Precincts 3 & 4 – Wildwood School, 182 Wildwood Street
- Precincts 5 & 6 – Town Hall, 121 Glen Road
