George loved spending time, tinkering, and taking long walks at his summer home in North Falmouth with his children and grandchildren. A philosopher, amateur historian, and stamp collector, he was an inveterate reader with a library of over 4,000 books, and was endlessly curious about history. With a profound knowledge of virtually any subject, he used to joke that he possessed “only a smattering of ignorance.” He was also justifiably famous for his Friday “date nights” at both the Silver Lounge in North Falmouth and Kitty’s Restaurant in North Reading.
George is survived by four children: Bronia M. Sullivan and her husband, Carl Zukroff of Boston; M. Susan Sullivan of Newmarket, NH; Robert Sullivan and his wife, Meriem Pages of Northfield, MA; and Nancy Peterlin and her husband Philip Peterlin of Wells, ME; four grandchildren, Stephanie Sullivan of Weatogue, CT and her husband, Alex MacDonald, Nicholas Sullivan of Amherst, MA, Hannah Peterlin of Florence, Italy, and George H. Sullivan of Northfield, MA; one great-granddaughter, Madelyn MacDonald of Weatogue; a brother-in-law, Kevin Field and his wife Gayle of Northboro, MA; and many nieces and nephews.
