Guess Who’s Back? (Back Again...) Ellen Grinder Returns Home with Something Special: EBG Creations!
With over three decades of experience serving Wilmington's youth, Ellen is excited to reconnect via the Wilmington Recreation Department.

At EBG Creations, our mission is to bring people together through thoughtfully curated programming that fosters self-expression, wellness, and personal growth. From youth to seniors, we offer individual, family-centered and multi-generational opportunities designed to strengthen relationships, inspire collaboration, and enhance our community. This summer’s programming includes BOOST (Better Out of School Time) youth enrichment camp, adult & senior-friendly fitness offerings, teen/adult dance, and a Community Service Movement opportunity for ages 10-110! All programs are led by highly experienced facilitators who bring years of expertise in their fields. Not just supervisors—they are mentors, coaches, and passionate educators dedicated to making meaningful experiences for all who participate.
At the heart of EBG Creations is its founder, Wilmington native, resident, and small business owner, Ellen Grinder, whose passion for fostering inclusion and connection drives everything we do. Her kindness and unwavering dedication serve to ensure that every person—child, adult, senior—feels welcomed and valued. Ellen has 29 years of experience in afterschool education and administration in Lexington, MA. She thrived running a large-scale creative programming-based extended day program of 150+ enthusiastic elementary age participants and 12+ talented staff members annually until its unexpected closure in 2022. This experience was one of a select few that strongly shaped her professional development.
A proud product of the Wilmington Public School system, Ellen went on to earn her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston College and her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Salem State College as a Presidential Scholar. She was grateful to gain pre-practicum, practicum, and professional experience in her home town alongside her favorite educators. While employed in the WPS system as an academic tutor and long-term substitute teacher, she also co-coached the WHS varsity gymnastics team and privately tutored girls in math and science.
Ellen’s involvement with the Wilmington Recreation Department spanned over 25 years, beginning as a child participant, progressing to demonstrator/assistant, and eventually rising to director of multiple programs. She took leadership of Summer Playground, seasonal gymnastics, and winter Play Gym—and elevated them to new heights, growing participation each year. Under her direction, these programs flourished, offering dynamic experiences annually for hundreds of local children. One of the highlights of her career was designing the thematic summer calendar filled with special events and field trips, while overseeing a diverse team of staff and volunteers. Today, she’s thrilled to come full circle by bringing some of her EBG Creations programming to the community through a collaboration with the Wilmington Recreation Department!

Last, but certainly not least, Ellen is entering her 40th year of teaching dance technique—an endeavor that began under the direction of mentor Donna Miceli at the DMDC and continues through her small business offerings. This professional experience has afforded her with extensive opportunities to work with and choreograph for numerous Youth/Senior Companies and specialty Repertory Ensembles of all ages. These experiences helped shape her distinctive style—marked by humor, creativity, and versatility—that inspired varied pieces of work which were performed and competed at the local, national, and international level.
Today, Ellen strives to channel that same passion and energy into EBG Creations and all it offers. She believes that community grows strongest when all ages are afforded high quality enrichment opportunities. This belief is exemplified best where wellness, personal growth, movement and more become tools for self expression, and when shared experiences and community service forge lasting bonds. This vision is not strictly about programming. It's about cultivating a welcoming environment that nurtures relationships, promotes growth, embraces inclusivity, and encourages giving back. Together, we’re creating a community rooted in service and connection—and we can’t wait to welcome you!
