Lowell Man Facing OUI Charges After Wed. Wilmington/Woburn Line Crash
The 33-year-old man and a 44-year-old Woburn woman suffered serious injuries in the 2-car crash. Both were extricated from their vehicles.
WILMINGTON, MA — A 33-year-old Lowell man is facing several charges, including operating under the influence, after he was involved in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday near the Wilmington/Woburn line that left a 44-year-old Woburn woman with serious injuries, Wilmington police said.
The man also sustained critical injuries in the crash and both drivers were extricated from their vehicles and transported to the Lahey Clinic, according to police.
Authorities said the male driver, whose name has not been reported, will be charged with operating under the influence of liquor causing serious bodily injury, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, open container violation, and failure to use headlights. He will be arraigned at Woburn District Court at a future date, authorities said.

According to the Wilmington PD, at 6:39 p.m., officers responded to the two-vehicle crash on Main Street (Route 38) near the Wilmington/Woburn line.
At the scene, officers encountered what appeared to be a head-on collision between the 2018 Audi A3, operated by the man from Lowell, and the 2019 GMC Yukon, operated by the woman from Woburn, the Wilmington PD said.

Wilmington Fire Department personnel extricated both drivers from their vehicles, authorities said.
The crash, which also drew first responders from Woburn, remains under investigation by the Wilmington PD and the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, according to authorities.
Photos shared from the scene by the Wilmington FD showed debris strewn across Main Street (Route 38) in Wilmington. The two cars pictured had both sustained major front-end damage.
