Mass Layoffs Planned At Wilmington Company

A local company has informed the state that it will be laying off workers this year.

WILMINGTON, MA — A Wilmington pharmaceutical company will lay off 75 workers this year, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act notice filed with the state.

Azurity Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is located at 841 Woburn St.

The layoffs are anticipated to be Sept. 12 to Dec. 31.

The company has a "global footprint" in over 50 countries and has "30+ marketed brands" of medications for a variety of conditions, according to its website.

A company spokesperson said that Azurity has been "winding down" its operations in Wilmington during the last six months, according to MassLive.

The company is moving away from in-house manufacturing in favor of third-party manufacturing, which is affecting the Wilmington operation, MassLive reported.
