New Poll: Tisei Holds Narrow Lead Over Moulton in Final Poll Before Tuesday's Election
The most watched race on the North Shore - to fill the 6th District seat after the ouster of U.S. Rep. John Tierney - is very close.

The final poll from Emerson College before Tuesday’s election shows Republican Richard Tisei leading Democrat Seth Moulton by two percentage points - within the margin or error - in the race to be the new Congressman from the Sixth District.
The winner will fill the seat vacated by U.S. Rep. John Tierney (D-Salem), who was defeated by Moulton in last month’s Democratic Party primary.
The most recent poll, which consisted of questioning 400 likely voters in the Sixth Congressional District between Oct. 26-29, showed 42 percent of voters backing Tisei, 40 percent supporting Moulton and 3 percent for independent Chris Stockwell. The margin of error was 4.85 percent.

It is the latest of several recent polls showing similar results. Emerson calls the race “still tight” but “enthusiasm” is with Tisei with 53 percent of Tisei supporters enthusiastic about the election compared to 31 percent of Moulton supporters.
The greatest support for Moulton comes from the southern part of the district, with 43 percent support for Moulton compared to Tisei’s 37 percent in that portion of the district, which includes Lynn, the largest city in the district. It is the same region that Tierney won 59 percent to 41 percent over Tisei in 2012.

For Tisei, of Wakefield, it is his second run for the seat after losing to Tierney by about 4,000 votes in 2012. It is the first campaign for Moulton, of Salem, and Stockwell of Marblehead.
On Tuesday, both major party candidates tapped into high profile partners on the campaign trail. Vice President Joe Biden joined Moulton at a rally in Lynn and gubernatorial candidate Charlie Baker joined Tisei touring a biotech company in Danvers.
The sixth district includes 39 cities and towns on the North Shore and north of Boston, stretching from Salisbury and Newburyport in the north to Lynn and Swampscott in the south. From east to west, it stretches from Rockport to Bedford, and includes Beverly, Danvers, Gloucester, Peabody and Salem.
