Police Searching for Man Who Hit Pedestrian after Assaulting Officer

A BOLO has been issued in the area for the man. The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to Lahey Hospital.

WOBURN, MA — Woburn Police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted a police officer and struck a 65-year-old man with his vehicle Wednesday.

Tyson Delgado, 29 of Winthrop, is wanted for Larceny, Assault and Battery and Leaving the Scene of an Accident after Causing Serious Personal Injury after allegedly assaulting a police officer and hitting another man with his vehicle Wednesday morning, according to a statement by Acting Police Chief Robert Rufo (Chief Robert Ferullo is on vacation.)

“This suspect has no regard for the safety of others as evidenced by this morning’s events,” Acting Chief Rufo said. “We urge anyone with information about this suspect’s location to immediately contact Woburn Police. With the public’s help we hope to get this dangerous individual off the streets before anyone else is harmed.”

Police reported to a North Woburn business at 9 a.m. after a report of a threat. While being interviewed by police, Delgado assaulted an officer and fled the scene in a white Chevrolet.

Delgado later drove down a narrow side street and struck a 65-year-old man who was walking in a crosswalk. Police say Delgado continued to drive for several hundred yards before the man fell off the vehicle.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to Lahey Hospital.
