Police Stepping up Enforcement at Main Street and Richmond Street Intersection
Recently released data shows that between 2011 and 2013 there were 100 motor vehicle crashes in that area.

WILMINGTON, MA - You may have noticed more police in the area of the Main Street and Richmond Street intersection this week and for very good reason.
Wilmington Police announced on Wednesday they are stepping up enforcement in the vicinity of the intersection of Main Street and Richmond Street (Rte. 28 and Rte. 129).

Recently released data shows that between 2011 and 2013 there were 100 motor vehicle crashes in that area, according to police.

"Committed to the safety of our residents and the motoring public, the WPD will be stepping up our enforcement of violations in this area," Wilmington Police posted on Facebook Wednesday morning. "We are asking the public for their assistance in reducing the number of crashes in this area by simply following the rules of the road."
- Red light violations
- Driver's failing to yield to oncoming traffic when turning
- Individuals texting or reading from their mobile devices when stopped in traffic
