School Committee Discusses Future of Roman House Offices
The meeting discussed whether the Roman House was still suitable for school administration offices.

The Wilmington School Committee recently convened to discuss the future of housing school administration offices in the Roman House, according to published reports.
The meeting was held on Tuesday, July 29, and saw the committee reach a consensus that the Roman House is no longer suitable to house administration offices, according to a report from the Wilmington Apple.
Only three of five school district administrators offices are housed within the Roman House, according to the report.

The Wilmington Apple reported Superintendent Mary DeLai said her team has begun researching temporary locations for the school administration offices. DeLai said her team has researched possible temporary locations, including modular units, leasing business space and setting up in town hall’s auditorium.
The committee did not discuss the future of the structure itself, but simply whether it is a suitable location for offices.

Due to its age, the committee agreed it would be too costly to renovate the Roman House, the report said. Long-term relocation solutions were not discussed at the meeting.
