Shawsheen Tech Superintendent Finalist Named

School Committee votes unanimously to enter into contract negotiations with the school's next superintendent.

On Monday night Shawsheen Regional School Committee members interviewed the three finalists to replace retiring Superintendent Charlie Lyons. And now we know who their choice is to succeed Lyons when he retires at the end of the year.

The board voted unanimously Monday night to enter into contract negotiations Shawsheen’s Technical Director Tim Broadrick, Wilmington Apple is reporting.

All three of the finalists currently work at Shawsheen Tech and also included teacher Jessica Cook and Assistant Superintendent-Director Carissa Karakaedos. The three were whittled down from an initial pool of seven candidates.

The School Committee’s personnel subcommittee with now work with Broadrick to negotiate a contract, according to the report. They are expected to report back at the School Committee’s next scheduled meeting on August 25. A vote could be taken then to officially bring Broadrick on board.

Lyons announced he was retiring back in March after almost three decades at the helm of the school. He is set to retire in December.
