State Spending Bill Includes $290K For Wilmington

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington will receive $290,000 in funding from the recently-passed $4 billion state spending bill, according to a communication to the Board of Selectmen at their Dec. 13 meeting.

State Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr outlined the town's earmarks in the bill in a letter to the selectmen.

The $4 billion bill, passed Dec. 3, includes $2.5 billion in federal American Rescue Plan Act relief funds and $1.5 billion in surplus funds from Fiscal Year 2021.

Wilmington also received $7 million directly from the American Rescue Plan Act.

The following earmarks are in the state bill:

• "$40,000 to the Wilmington/Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce, Inc. for small business assistance, development, and promotion to facilitate recovery from the impact of the 2019 novel coronavirus
• $200,000 for the town of Wilmington to support the redesign and repaving of the Deming Way senior housing parking access and sidewalks to increase handicap-accessibility and for repairs and upgrades to the state and federally funded municipal housing
• $50,000 for the town of Wilmington to support the expansion of sidewalks and associated stormwater runoff infrastructure in the Andover Street area"
