Was a UFO Spotted in Wilmington in March?

It's possible. There have been several reported sightings over the past 17 years, according to the National UFO Reporting Center.

WILMINGTON, MA - Things can get a little bit spooky around these parts. Believe it or not residents across the state regularly report UFO sightings and Wilmington is no exception.

In March, a Wilmington resident reported seeing an a flash as two bright lights repelled before zig-zagging and taking off, according to the National UFO Reporting Center. That report, they say, may be a hoax.

But that wasn't the first time the NUFORC received a report from Wilmington. Here's a look at other reported sightings dating as far back as 1999:

  • Feb. 22, 2015 at 8:19 p.m. - Report of a round craft bright red light with what looked like fire coming from it. "I ran outside and we both stared in shock. It's the closest thing we both have seen to a spacecraft that was not from this world," the report says. The reporting center believes this incident may be a hoax. Read the full report >>>
  • June 28, 2004 at 5:10 p.m. - Report from someone driving north on Rte. 38 in Wilmington, when they looked up into the sky and watched 10 small ovals yellow shapes making a formation of 1-8-1 in the sky at about 2,000 feet. Reporter says they were very bright and shiny yellow-gold. Read the full report >>>
  • Oct. 3, 2001 at 8:15 p.m. - Report from resident who was mowing his lawn when a bright object, of a bluish hue, caught his eye. The sighting lasted about two hours and the reporting party said the object seemed about four times the size of Mars as it was seen in the sky that night. Read the full report >>>
  • June 5, 2001 at 10 p.m. - Witness reports seeing a strange light with three points forming a triangle. The lights were to bright to see much, but the reporter said it wasn't "one of ours." Read the full report >>>
  • Sept. 13, 1999 at 11:30 a.m. - Resident reports noticing what looked like a star in the morning hours and every minute there would be a flash on that object. The entire sighting lasted two and a half hours. Read the full report >>>

  • April 16, Quincy - Rectangular object went over the highway going west,turned north and disappeared.
  • April 15, Dartmouth - "I was sitting out on my back deck with my wife and kids looking up in the sky and saw a round object in the sky left on the moon zigzag."
  • April 14, Stoneham - Triangle shaped and visible for five minutes.
  • April 14, Westfield - "Went outside to let dog out..noticed triangle shape with 3 lights moving very very slow headed south east."
  • April 8, Burlington - "Huge triangular saucer with 3 bright lights lit around the edges and object was hovering over Woburn/Burlington."
  • April 8, Taunton - Bright moving lights over Taunton, Massachusetts (NUFORC Note: twinkling" stars?)
  • March 23, West Newbury - "A procession of slow moving orange fireball object were observed in the sky."
  • March 18, Ludlow - "Small round silverfish objects over Masspike."
  • March 9, East Longmeadow - "While starting to take a walk at 6:15 PM, weather clear and 65 degrees, noticed triangle shape with 3 red lights very high up in sky."
  • March 6, Orange - "Large object over southwestern sky in W. Massachusetts, bright lights, slow moving object, changing shapes."
  • March 3, Baldwinville - "Spotted a large green fireball shoot straight down from the sky."
