Wilmington BBQ Restaurant Plans Move, Expansion

WILMINGTON, MA — Code 1 BBQ in Wilmington will be moving after three years at "our cozy spot on 211 Main St."

When the restaurant reopens, it will have an expanded menu with desserts, eight times the seating capacity, an event space dubbed "The Barn," additional hours, and more cooking capacity, according to a Facebook post from the restaurant.

"We’re proud to be a 5-star BBQ establishment, known for amazing Texas-style BBQ, friendly staff, and unbeatable customer service," Code 1 BBQ wrote. "And we’re bringing all of that with us to our new location!"

The business started in 2021 as a catering company with a shared kitchen before opening a limited service restaurant in Wilmington.

"We have always wanted to grow Code 1 to its fullest potential and knew that it deserved a bigger space where guests could sit and enjoy our food," Erica Marchant said. "We'd like to eventually have an alcohol license and live entertainment. Our current space doesn't allow enough room for storage and a varied menu. The new space will create a more inviting atmosphere allowing us to sell out less often and offer items that everyone can enjoy."

The new space will be at 228 Main St. close by to the current location. It will have 100 seats, an event room, and a larger waiting area for takeout guests.

"Our goal is to provide the same exceptional service, homestyle comfort foods, and smoked meats that everyone has come to love," Erica Marchant said.

She said that Sean Marchant smokes all the meat, and she manages and runs the restaurant in addition to creating all the recipes.

"We look forward to making Code 1 BBQ an exciting food destination here in Wilmington, MA," she said.
