Break-In At Woburn Townhouse Prompts Warning From Police

Police urged community members to be "extra vigilant" after a break-in and an attempted break-in over recent days.

WOBURN, MA — Woburn Police urged caution among residents on Saturday after what police said was a break-in at a townhouse the previous night.

The incident followed a separate, possibly related incident this past Monday where an individual or individuals appeared to have tried to pry open a pair of sliding doors at a different housing complex, according to police.

Police said they responded early Saturday morning to a townhouse complex off Cambridge Road following reports of a break-in and larceny. They said victims went out between 5:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. on Friday into Saturday morning, only to come home to find jewelry had been stolen.

Police said evidence on scene showed individuals first tried to pry open a rear slider door.

“When access was not gained through the slider door, the suspect(s) then broke a ground floor window to unlock it and make entry,” police continued.

Police said they previously responded on Monday to a townhouse off Bedford Road in Woburn following reports of an attempted break-in. Individuals had ultimately been unsuccessful in opening slider doors in that case, police said.

Police said on Saturday that these two incidents may be related, citing their proximity to each other. Police called on community members to be “extra vigilant” with extra precautions in place when leaving their homes unattended.
